More About Adams County

Located in the northern metropolitan area of Denver, Adams County ranks among the top five largest Counties in the state of Colorado, and is projected to be the fastest growing County in the metro Denver area over the next two decades. Home to the cities of Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights, Northglenn and Thornton, portions of Arvada, Aurora and Westminster, and the town of Bennett, it is home to some 450,000 residents. The County offers a professional business climate, a diverse labor pool, affordable land, a wide range of housing opportunities and community amenities that boast a high quality of life for all who live here.

The first permanent settlement in Adams County was established by settlers who had come west to strike it rich during the Colorado gold rush, but soon discovered there was more money to be made raising crops and livestock to supply prospectors, and the new city of Denver, than there was in gold mining. Previously, food had to be shipped in from New Mexico or points east. The early farmers of Adams County helped make the growth of Denver possible, and established the agricultural economy that much of the County still depends on today. Brighton became the first incorporated town in the territory, in 1887.

Arvada, Colorado, by far the largest city in Adams County, is an attractive western suburb with an estimated population of 107,050 that maintains its cherished hometown feel while building a diverse business community. From the rich historical culture to the shared community pride, Adams County combines the luxuries of today’s society with cherished traditions of the past. Quiet neighborhoods, a robust business mix, and the restoration of historic landmarks keep this area socially vibrant and in good economic health.
