The Landmark's Mayan Theatre features many different types of films in an adult-oriented atmosphere. Films range from Foreign to Independent with everything in between. This theatre is part of the largest chain of theatres in the country dedicated to independent films. It's found among many art galleries, vintage clothing stores and restaurants in the very popular Baker District. It was built in 1930 and was almost demolished in the 1980s, but it's still open. After a $2 million renovation, the theatre became a three-screen palace with a beautiful auditorium and two smaller theatres upstairs.
The Mayan Theatre has won many awards, including:
- Top Movie Theatre Concession Stand from Rocky Mountain News in 2004
- Best Denver Theatre from Rocky Mountain
