Carolyn Capalbo Fights to Win Back Her Name

As a REALTOR® in Northern Virginia who has the unenviable distinction of sharing her name with the mother of Ashley Dupre, who was the “escort” to Eliot Spitzer, Carolyn Capalbo has found herself needing to do some serious damage control. After all, when potential clients Google her name, they are frequently met with numerous articles about the infamous affair. Clearly, Carolyn Capalbo the REALTOR® is vastly different from the one who has recently grabbed the headlines along with her daughter. Fortunately, Carolyn Capalbo the REALTOR® has enjoyed a significant amount of support from within the real estate community.

According to Capalbo, she didn’t realize the impact the name confusion would have on her reputation. After all, the other Carolyn Capalbo is just the mother of the person who was caught up in the scandal. As such, she didn’t think the mother would garner a great deal of attention. But, it didn’t take long before the phone calls from reporters came flooding in as they tried to get information from her about her “daughter.” To make matters worse, reporters were actually contacting her Broker’s office in an effort to obtain more information. The spotlight upon her was so great that her buyer’s agent even asked her if she had a child from another relationship. It’s not just Carolyn Capalbo the REALTOR® who has been harassed because of the scandal, however, as even her children were asked if they had an older sister or a half sister.

Of course, it’s not just the initial media attention that has been problematic, as the Internet remains information for months or even years. As such, those who perform an Internet search of the name “Carolyn Capalbo” are still bringing up information about Ashley Dupre’s mom. Worse yet, pictures of Carolyn Capalbo the REALTOR® were merged with photos of Dupre’s mom, which further increased the confusion.

While Carolyn Capalbo the REALTOR® is a mother, she is not the mother of Ashley Dupre. Rather, she is the proud mother of triplets and has been married to her husband for the last 20 years.  Capalbo enjoys spending as much time with her family as possible, but she is also driven to provide her customers with the highest level of service possible. Her simple motto, “Service, Knowledge, and Integrity,” says it all. Unfortunately, that motto will never grab the number of headlines as the Spitzer scandal, but it is certainly one that does deserve to be recognized.
