Settled in the foothills where the say “the great plains meets the Rockies”, 35 miles southwest of downtown Denver, Conifer Colorado is an unincorporated community in Jefferson Country, with a population of about 75,000.

Conifer had been a cattle ranching community since the early 1920’s, and there are still a few ranches in southern parts of the county. But today, Conifer, Colorado is all about growth. The population is little older, the incomes are little higher, and as a result, a lot of the cattle ranching community has given way to multi-million dollar homes, and new development.

Planned commercial growth is in the works, designed to reduce the number of residents who now work and shop in Denver, but at the same time community leaders recognize the need to maintain a quality of life attractive to both visitors and residents.

A new cultural arts complex is also under consideration, along with scheduled improvements to scenic Highways 285, just to make the short drive to Denver a little more pleasurable.
