Henderson Homes and Living

Nestled on the high plains just north of Denver in Adams County, this community is a fine place to live and raise a family. Henderson is the perfect setting for families with growing children. The community is convenient to downtown Denver, Commerce City, and Denver International Airport.

Adams County is widely known for its quality schools, and there are numerous shopping, dining, and business amenities in the area. Recently, large portions of the Henderson area have over time been annexed by the larger communitiescities of Commerce City, Brighton, and Thornton. The first permanent settlement in Adams County was established by Colonel Jack Henderson on a large island in the South Platte River about seven miles southwest of Brighton. Henderson was originally home to a small trading post, and hotel, and eventually a number of settlers, most of whom had come west to strike it rich during the "gold rush". They sold provisions to miners on their way up the South Platte River Trail, to the gold fields, during the Colorado Gold Rush of 1859.

Today, appropriately enough, Henderson is well known for its tourist accommodations. Visitors enjoy a complete selection of cabins, condos, bed & breakfast inns, luxury suites, corporate apartments and vacation packages. Henderson's population is around 8,350 people. Since 2000, it has had a phenomenal population growth of 301.86 percent. The median home cost for a home here is around $240,000. That's a little less than a 6% decrease over the past few years.

Compared to the rest of the country, Henderson's cost of living is 5.79%, somewhat lower than the U.S. Average. Employment is said to be stable. If you have an interest in residential real estate in Henderson, Colorado, you’ll find a variety of home styles at affordable prices, in addition to a lifestyle, and amenities unique to the Henderson area.
