Washington Park Homes and Living

This small community of 7000 is one of the city’s finest and most prestigious neighborhoods. Washington Park, more popularly referred to as “Wash Park”, covers 165 acres of southeast Denver with scenic lakes, and flower gardens, all adding to the pastoral charm of this distinguished community. The Washington Park neighborhood borders the entire park and stretches from Downing Street to University Boulevard, with Cherry Creek Drive on the north and Interstate-25 on the south. Residents here enjoy full access to major highways into and out of the community, as well as light rail. The Old South Gaylord district, a collection of shops, boutiques, and charming restaurants, as well as Cherry Creek Shopping District are both close by.

Washington Park is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver. Well known for the many early twentieth century brick houses on tree-lined streets that cover the landscape, homes here date back 100 years in many cases, although a good may more have been remodeled or have enjoyed additions. Proximity to local restaurants, shopping, schools, and churches make this one of Denver’s most sought after neighborhoods. West Washington Park real estate features mostly Victorian or bungalow-style homes built from 1900 to the 1940’s. Real Estate in this portion of the greater Washington Park community is less expensive, but no less in demand. This community consists primarily of brick bungalows and Tudors interspersed with new construction, which is well regulated by the historical integrity requirements of the neighborhood, and the city of Denver. Homebuyers may not find Washington Park the most affordable neighborhood in Denver, but value is often times measured in something other than the coin of the realm. Nevertheless, home prices in Washington Park start in around $465,00 and often approach $2 million.

Washington Park West Homes

Situated west of Washington Park, and just southeast of Downtown Denver, Washington Park West stretches an area from Downing to Broadway and Alameda to Interstate 25. Many of the city’s social and commercial attraction lay on its outskirts, such as Washington Park itself, shopping, in the Old South Pearl Street district, and the business end of old South Broadway. Easy access to light rail stations at Louisiana and Alameda, and I-25, speak to Washington Park West’s central location. Residents of this upper-middle class neighborhood take pride in their community, and its place in the city’s history.

Washington Park Neighborhood

Although there is a wide selection of housing options in Washington Park West real estate, the preservation of historical structures remains high on the list of priorities for residents here. Nevertheless, homebuyers will find a wide selection of housing choices, including apartments, condominiums, duplexes and single-family homes, all in styles ranging from bungalows to Victorians. There is also a good deal of new construction in this area, even as the community can be hesitant to remove, or go “too far” in renovating some of the older structures. Historical preservation is the community mandate here. Home prices in Washington Park real estate can range from $200,000 to more than a million.
