Attraction Spotlight: Garden of the Gods


The Garden of the Gods is a National Natural Landmark in Colorado Springs. They are open all year for visitors for free to the public. You’ll experience unbelievable panoramic views, 300’ towering rock formations against snow-capped Pikes Peak and visitor amenities.

Many people come here to hike, horseback ride, walk or attend annual events. The visitor center offers a café, shopping and tour options. This award-winning attraction is one that the whole family can enjoy. Here is what you can expect in a visit to Garden of the Gods.

Outdoor Recreation

Pack lunch because Garden of the Gods Park offers two uncovered picnic areas. The Scotsman Picnic Area has 5 picnic tables and The South Spring Canyon Picnic Area has 6 picnic tables. Bring a propane grill if you’d like but alcohol is not permitted.

There are designated bike trails for mountain bikers that are also used by hikers and equestrian users. Sometimes you’ll see wildlife sneak up on the trail. Hikers can enjoy 15 miles of trails starting in the main parking lot. There you’ll find Perkins Central Garden Trail, or check out Ridge Trail, Siamese Twins Trail, Scotsman/Buckskin Charlie Trail or Chambers/Bertag/Palmer Trail.

Those looking for adventure may be interested in rock climbing or horseback riding. Some just love taking photos and there are plenty of great photo opportunities.

Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is a great first stop for your adventure. Get a free full-color park map here. You can stop by the café for a snack while looking at stunning views. The Visitor Center also offers free exhibits including the geology, ecology and cultural history of this region in Colorado.

The Visitor Center also offers a gift shop, van tours in the summer, group tours and an HD movie called “How Did Those Red Rocks Get There?”
