Horse Racing in Denver at Arapahoe Park Racetrack
Denver is full of things to do and places to see. Arapahoe Park Racetrack is a very popular spot for horse racing fans. The track hosts may events throughout the summer including Quarter Horses, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Pain and Appaloosa racing. The season runs from May to August and provides plenty of entertainment.
Arapahoe Park Racetrack is located in Aurora, Colorado. They stress a casual dress code, but welcome cowboy boots and hats. You cannot bring outside food or alcohol, but you will find both for purchase at the track. They serve hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts, beer and mixed drinks daily.
The racetrack features grandstands perfect for any summer day. Not only are the enclosed, but they also provide air-conditioning for better comforts. You can bring the family and enjoy many different types of races at Arapahoe Park without worrying about the summer heat.
Hours and Admission
Arapahoe Park will open on May 24th and stay open through August 17th. Live racing will happen every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a post time of 1pm each day.
Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children. Clubhouse admission is $10 for a table of four. You can pick up your race program for $2 and get a tip sheet for $1.
Along with regular racing, the track will hold special races on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 26th
Directions and Location
Arapahoe Park Racetrack is found at 26000 East Quincy Avenue in Aurora. Getting to the race track from Denver is very easy. Just take I-25 South to E-470 and take the Quincy Avenue Exit. From there, just follow the signs to the race track. It's located next to the Aurora Reservoir.
Purses for races are up for 2014 and plenty of races will be on the schedule for the season. In total, the track will host 39 days of racing.
