Given Centennial’s location, it also provides easy access to the Denver Technological Center (DTC) and major transportation arteries. In1858 discovery of gold along Cherry Creek brought an influx of more than 50,000 gold seekers to the area in the “Pike’s Peak or Bust” gold rush. Two hundred of them met at newly founded “Denver City “in November 1858 to organize Arapahoe County. When the City of Centennial incorporated in February 2001, 100,000 residents of the surrounding area of Arapahoe County came together as a community, making Centennial’s incorporation the largest in U.S. history. This was a clear example of the independent spirit shown by their pioneer forebears in deciding to fight off an annexation attempt by Greenwood Village, which wanted to improve its tax base. Centennial’s founders have since seen their young city become one of the region's fastest growing communities.

Centennial has the closest, non-commercial airport to downtown Denver and houses a large fleet of corporate jets. As new growth in the technical field expands, Centennial is set to be an economic hot spot in Colorado in the years to come. Centennial borders on Cherry Creek State Park, home to an 880-acre lake and twelve miles of paved hiking and biking trails. The park also has rental horses, campsites, and terrain suitable for cross-country skiing. Residents of Centennial have easy access, via Interstate 25 and U.S. 87, to all Denver’s world-class cultural, entertainment, shopping, and sporting venues.

Centennial is a vibrant community, offering the benefits of city life, and the pleasure of suburban and semi-rural setting.
