Barnum, Denver Homes for Sale
Barnum Real Estate
Phinius T. Barnum bought 760 acres of land in the Denver area in 1882, to use as a winter retreat when his circus wasn’t on tour. Named in his honor, this area is now called the Barnum neighborhood and is bounded by W 6th Ave to Alameda, and Federal Boulevard to Sheridan. Barnum is southwest of the city, and close to downtown.
Homes styles in Barnum range from the historic 2-story Victorian, to the modern day ranch. Homes in this community are generally affordable for the first-time homebuyer, and range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 finished square feet.
Barnum West shares geographic boundaries within the greater Barnum community, W 6th Ave to Alameda and Sheridan Boulevard to N. Perry Street. Residents enjoy easy access to both Interstate 25, and the 6th Avenue Freeway.
Housing prices and median incomes strike more of a balance in this southwest Denver neighborhood, and historical single-family homes are not the only offering. Barnum real estate is known to provide an ample selection of apartments and condominiums to potential buyers.
Barnum real estate is still home to many historic buildings and, thanks to Mr. Barnum himself, several streets are named after famous people. Barnum is also home to several popular parks and recreation areas. In fact, pet owners will be pleased to know that Barnum Park has a designated off-leash area, as part of pilot program for the city and county of Denver. Barnum, and Barnum West are Denver neighborhoods where community matters, and where civic groups, schools, and non-profit organizations play an active role.
