Approximately 3,500 residents, and countless visitors, inhabit the Central Business District. Often referred to as Upper Downtown, or Uptown, CBD stretches from Speer Boulevard to 20th Street and Broadway to Larimer Street. This pedestrian-friendly enclave of upscale shops and boutiques, lofts, condominiums and affordable apartments, is part of a community that redefines “Inner city”.
However, a full floor loft with a roof top deck and hot tub, Viking kitchen, and fireplace in the Central Business District, can run well into 7 figures. While Lower Downtown (LoDo) has rolled up a good deal of the publicity around growth and housing over the last decade truth is, residential growth in the upper end of Downtown - the Central Business District – has been comparable.
There are a good number of first class hotels in the Central Business District, all served by RTD's Free Shuttle. Condominiums and apartments, many available for below-market rate are also available. Lofts, however, are to be considered the neighborhood's crown jewels. The Denver Dry Lofts for example, at 15th and California Street, has one of Denver's most-stylish department stores, built right in. The Denver Pavilions, opened in 1998 on the 16th Street Mall, and is now home to 52 shops, restaurants, and a 15-screen movie theater. “Central Business District” may sound like a quiver of bank buildings, but it’s not.
