Five Points, Denver Homes for Sale
Homes in Five Points Denver CO
Five Points is the name given to the confluence of 4 historic Denver neighborhoods that surround the intersection of Washington Street, 27th Street, 26th Avenue and Welton Street, northeast of Downtown Denver.
Spread over a considerable area from where the 'Five Points' actually meet at 23rd Street and Broadway, the Five Points real estate district, one of Denver’s oldest residential neighborhoods is well known for it’s rich history, and diverse community of residents. Its commercial district, once a requisite stop for the world's premier African American jazz musicians --who stopped in Denver between Midwest and West Coast tours-- continues to be a vibrant, and integral part of this historic real estate district today.
The construction of light rail into the neighborhood by Denver's Reginal Transportation District, and the area's close proximity to downtown has led to substantial and permanent change in the Five Points real estate district with the complete renovation of many of Denver oldest and most beautiful Victorian homes. New housing developments, and luxury lofts in this area, have also begun to alter the landscape. The city’s decision to designate Five Point real estate an historic district, along with an influx of state preservation monies for restoration, has helped considerably, with efforts to renew and revitalize this historic Denver neighborhood.
Named in 1881 for a bustling five-way intersection, at 23rd and Broadway, the Five Points real estate district became a commercial and social center for African American life in Denver in the early part of the last century. Today, both city officials and resident alike recognize the importantance of history and diversity in this community, and efforts to renew and revitalize the Five Points real estate district will likely pay a lasting dividend.
