Highland, Denver Homes for Sale
Highland Denver Real Estate
Highland real estate area is a northwest Denver community bordered by I-25 and Sheridan Blvd (East-West) and Colfax (15th Ave) to 52nd Ave (North-South).
The Highlands gets it’s name, apparently, for its location above and to the west of the city of Denver prior to annexation at the turn of the last century. This was a proud neighborhood that is said to have “looked down”, both literally and figuratively, upon the city of Denver at the time, and its wild west ways. Today, Highlands real estate is a growing, vibrant collectionof communities with more than a few commercial business districts containing several unique restaurants and boutiques. Resident here enjoy quick access to major highways.
The Highlands real estate area offeres a range of housing styles from turn of the century Victorians in the Potter’s Row historic district, to craftsman bungalows, Tudors, and of course newer more contemporary home styles. Some of Denver's most architecturally diverse buildings exist here. Classic views of the Rocky Mountains to the west, and of Downtown Denver and the Central Platte Valley to the east have not gone unnoticed by developers, who have begun several projects recently to capitalize on such amenities, in this resurgent urban neighborhood. As we might imagine, recent development in the Highlands real estate district has seen home prices rise.
Highlands real estate, once a gateway to the Rocky Mountain gold fields and trading routes further west, is actually a collection of Northwest Denver neighborhoods and historical townships, including Potter-Highlands, Sunnyside, Berkeley, West Highlands, Harkness Heights, Jefferson Park, Grandview, Sloan’s Lake and several others. The Highlands area today is a thriving, and historically rich part of Denver’s urban core, and the character of its neighborhoods has been developed over the past 125 years by a population engaged.
