Henderson, CO Homes for Sale
Henderson Real Estate
Henderson is situated in an unincorporated portion of Adams County, in the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. Nestled on the high plains just north of Denver in Adams County, this community is convenient to downtown Denver, Commerce City, and Denver International Airport.
Large portions of the Henderson area have over time been annexed by the larger communities and cities of Commerce City, Brighton, and Thornton. The first permanent settlement in Adams County was established by Colonel Jack Henderson on a large island in the South Platte River about seven miles southwest of Brighton. Henderson was originally home to a small trading post, and hotel, and eventually a number of settlers, most of whom had come west to strike it rich during the "gold rush". They sold provisions to miners on their way up the South Platte River Trail, to the gold fields, during the Colorado Gold Rush of 1859.
Today, appropriately enough, Henderson is well known for its tourist accommodations. Visitors enjoy a complete selection of cabins, condos, bed & breakfast inns, luxury suites, corporate apartments and vacation packages. Henderson's population is around 8,350 people. Since 2000, it has had a population growth of 301.86 percent.
