Larkspur Real Estate

Larkspur, Colorado lies on the northern slope of Pike National Forest, just south of Denver, in Douglas County. Located in Douglas County, on the northern slope of Pike National Forest, the community is believed named for the fields of wildflowers that grow there.

Larkspur was incorporated as a home rule municipality on May 21, 1979. Anne Trueblood was the town’s first mayor. Since that time the town limits have grown as a result of several property annexations. With a population of about 250 residents, Larkspur is a small community, about 43 miles south of Denver.

Larkspur is known for its annual Colorado Renaissance Festival. The festival features a cast of hundreds of authentically costumed merrymakers living and working throughout the village and performing upon the Festival's seven stages. Visitors can enjoy the classical creativity and craftsmanship of over 200 skilled artisans exhibiting in a wide variety of mediums including fine art, glassblowing, pottery, jewelry, wood working, blacksmithing, leather working and more. Long a Colorado tradition, the festival's live entertainment lineup includes magicians, jesters and jousting sessions.

Another attraction in Larkspur is the 18-hole Bear Dance Golf Course. The public course includes a luxurious clubhouse, restaurant, lounge and pro shop. It's also home to the impressive Colorado Professional Golf Association Historical Center, a collection of exhibits on the history of golf in the nation's highest state. On the outskirts of Larkspur are a few lodging facilities at local ranch-style B&Bs. Visit the friendly folks at the Spur of the Moment Roadhouse and Restaurant, or go shopping at the Prime Outlet Mall in Castle Rock, just a few minutes to the south.

Quiet, tree-lined streets, majestic mountain views and open prairie define Larkspur, as residential neighborhoods and ranch properties intertwine, defining this changing community, with splendid views of the Front Range foothills.
